I Took a Wrong Turn

Written by Judy Johnson

One time, one day in a bright October morning,
I drove my car with an elderly lady.

Exciting as I could be,
going to a deaf women's retreat in '07.
I was thinking I am heading in the right direction,
to a deaf women's retreat.

Two hours later, the forest in the mountains
have turned into the little hills as we drove by.

There is a small green sign came closer to me, and it reads,
'Cannon Beach'

I thought to myself,
'Cannon Beach? Can't it be?'
'Where is Lincoln City?'

Then I watched more closely,
another a small green sign come up closer.
It reads, says, 'Cannon Beach...8 miles'

'Oh no!!', I said to myself,
All a sudden, I slide to a stop by the road shoulder.
I grabbed a map and looked at it.

'Oh', it reads, 'Cannon Beach' right there
actually up north.

Oh dear...I have been going up north
instead of going south!

With a great 'gulp' it took me
another three hours to drive
down south to Lincoln City, Oregon!

However, on the trip I missed a turn
is truly a blessing.

It gave me more time to reflect
on the life I have with Jesus.

'Patience' is a word He is trying to teach me!
